Permanent, to start August 2019, Full time, term time only
Coleg Cambria is one of the UK’s largest colleges employing more than 1450 staff in over five campuses. At Deeside Sixth we are an excellent provider of A-Levels and we put our students at the heart of everything we do. They enjoy exclusive use of our modern state-of-the-art facilities at our £14.6 million centre, which opened in September 2016.
Here at Deeside Sixth, we are now looking for two Pastoral Coaches to join our team on a permanent, part time basis.
The Pastoral Coach role is a student support role, with responsibility for supporting students in their identified groups on their learning journey to ensure that they feel safe in college, are happy and successful. All students are allocated a Pastoral Coach who they meet with once a week for a group tutorial session, in addition to a regular one to one review meeting. Pastoral coaches use the PSE programme and support learners in their online learning programme. They also use the College’s student monitoring tool and ensure that all students are well-tracked and supported as they progress through college.
This role demands an individual who is educated to Degree level (or the equivalent Level 3 qualification) in a relevant subject area and who has experience of working within a learning support environment. With effective written literacy skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, you will understand the range of needs of learners at college and be able to demonstrate experience of coaching and mentoring learners.
With a pro-active and self-motivated approach, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to connect with young people in both group and one to one situations. You will be prepared to use initiative to resolve problems and be competent in the use of MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and Google applications. Those who have experience of working within a Youth Work setting would be advantageous, as would those who hold a recognised coaching qualification.
In return for your hard work and dedication we can promise you; an excellent pension scheme, generous annual leave entitlement, discounts of a range of college evening courses, a contribution of up to 1/3 towards professional course fees, discounted gym membership and much more!
The ability to speak fluent Welsh is highly desirable.
A DBS Disclosure will be requested from the successful applicant being offered the position.
